Whether we are talking to the planners, the press or to our own board, the imagery produced by iCreate is a huge help in communicating our proposals. The recent visuals of the Urban Village scheme have helped us secure planning permission as well as gaining positive press coverage, and we also...
Development Director, Coastal Housing Group View moreOK, it's not actually that funny, because we're doing a sponsored 24-hour famine - absolutely no eating for a whole day! It's potentially going to be a bit of a struggle but it's all for a good cause.
1. Obviously we're doing it in recogition of the desperate struggle for survival faced by so many starving people around the world. It is shameful that famine exists in the modern world, and we want to do what little we can to help. We know that one tiny day without food is an unbelievably trivial thing when compared with true starvation, but still, we think it will give us a bit more insight and remind us how truly lucky we all are.
2. It's the no nonsense option! We're busy people and we haven't got time to put together wacky costumes or plan an extravagant event (though that would definately be more fun), but we do want to join in and raise some money for all the worthy causes that Comic Refief supports. With a sponsored famine we figure we can actually save time! No need to shop for food, no time wasted on cooking and eating, no excuse even to leave our desks at lunchtime! (Brilliant...)
3. We figure it will be a good exercise for our willpower. Will power is an important muscle, so we're going to give ours a workout! And let's face it, we could all do with stronger willpower... Getting up when the alarm clock goes off, eating healthily, giving up smoking, going running, meeting deadlines, cleaning the bathroom... all these things would be easy if only we had the will power... So, we're practicing!
4. You can join in! Wherever you are, and whatever you're doing on 18th March, you too can go hungry! We're going to need all the support we can get, and we've made it really easy for you to share our pain, with a Comic Relief Online Giving Page so the money goes straight to them. Simply sign up to the Rules, send the sponsorship link to all your friends and family, and get ready to get hungry on the 18th March!
If you're doing something funny for money on 18th March, let us know and we'll sponsor you back!
